Ford's Hospital Courtyard

In this ever changing city, a little piece of continuity can make a rather pleasant change. Although by 1896 photography was already well established, it's reassuring that we still had many artists willing to share with us their interpretation of the world around us, and it was in this year that L. H. Mander chose to paint the beautiful courtyard of Ford's Hospital. A click on the image will reveal how well kept it remains to this day.

if you wish to see the images separately.

For an old and new photographic comparison of this ancient place, you might like to visit the Ford's Hospital now and then page, or seek more information about it in the Tour section.
