Some history

A short history lesson first. Coventry was a walled city, surrounded by many settlements and hamlets. These everybody knew as places like Radford, Woodend, Wyken or Harnall (as in Harnall Lane). In 1451 Coventry was awarded the title of The County of the City of Coventry, which it held for almost four centuries. Then Coventry was relegated back to being just a city in 1842. Almost one hundred years later Coventry suffered the Blitz. Just as Coventry was recovering form the Blitz, this happened....
